WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT WRITING IN APA STYLE
APA is a writing style that stands for American Psychological
Association (APA). Its one of the most popular and commonly used writing styles
in academic writing. Here is a list of what you need to know about APA Format.
The quickest way to writing a paper in APA Style is by using a template. Templates are available from the provided links at the end of the blog post. In addition, you can also use APA Style template that is available in Microsoft word.
1. Format

page margins

Double
line spacing
·
Every
new paragraph should be ½ inch indented. (Tab Key once)
·
Running
head should be in every page
·
Page
numbers at the top right-hand corner on every page, including title page.
2. Title page
This is how the title page of an APA Style paper should look like. The term “Running head” should only appear on the title page.
3. Abstract
The abstract page contains a summary of your work.
4. Introduction
This
is the introduction to your paper.
5. Body
The
body should contain the main content of your paper. Headings in the body
section should be centered and bold. Subheadings should be bold and
left-aligned. The beginning of every paragraph in this section should be ½ inch
indented.
6. Conclusion
Your
paper should have a conclusion of about 1 paragraph summarizing the details of
the paper.
7. References
The
authors name in APA Format should always be visible. The second line and the
third or fourth line of an APA reference should always be ½ inch indented to
make the authors name visible.
N.B: References in APA Format should always be listed in an Alphabetical order.
